Saltwater Fishing Lures
If you didn't listen to your Dad when he explained to you why it's important to know the difference between freshwater fishing and saltwater fishing and why is it that there are "specific" lures made for each type, here's your fix:
Basically, the reason why there are specific saltwater fishing lures and freshwater fishing lures is this: Most freshwater fishing is done for species that usually do not have teeth and are less than 15 pounds (7 kg). In saltwater fishing, all of those things could be considerations. Examples of saltwater fishing lures include Jigs (the best one, if you're asking for our opinion), Spoons (the second best), Metal Squids and Spinners. If you're on a budget, you can also go for the lesser “durable” saltwater fishing lures like Plastic lures and Rubber lures.
But don't get the idea that you can't use your saltwater fishing lures during freshwater boating expeditions. Yes, you can, but you may have difficulties catching a fish. Both types of fishing lure have specific characteristics and are made to be ideal for the considerations we've mentioned above. For instance, saltwater lures are made to stand up to harsher fishing conditions (you're going to fish in the sea, after all) and thus, can be a bit too "overpowering" for freshwater fishing.
